This The Crow themed photography session was one of my favorite cinematic shoots in Jacksonville. I wanted to recreate the dark, atmospheric feeling of the movie while putting my own creative spin on some of its most recognizable imagery.
We started at the Laura Street Trio while the location was still abandoned, which gave us an incredible backdrop for the darker and more dramatic portraits. The weathered architecture and abandoned atmosphere fit the aesthetic of The Crow perfectly and allowed us to create images that felt like they belonged in the world of the film.
For the more emotional portion of the shoot, we moved to Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville and photographed scenes around the graves. I wanted these images to capture the grief and loneliness that are such an important part of The Crow's story. We also recreated the iconic fire and phoenix imagery using Photoshop, combining the photography with visual effects to create something that couldn't have been captured in-camera.
This Jacksonville cinematic photography session gave me the opportunity to combine creative direction, location scouting, portrait photography, and Photoshop compositing to recreate some of the visual moments that made The Crow so memorable. The abandoned Laura Street Trio and Evergreen Cemetery gave the shoot two completely different settings while keeping the same dark, cinematic atmosphere throughout.
